FiveBarGate is safe
FiveBarGate's GateKey is a unique 7-digit alpha-numeric, once-off token. The probability of guessing this number is around 1 in 260 000 000. In addition, the mobile device used requires no connectivity to the Internet, or any other network, and FiveBarGate stores no identifiable data on the device. Your client losing their mobile in no way compromises FiveBarGate or your site.
FiveBarGate is cheap
All FiveBarGate clients are free. Compare this to the classic token-based two-factor authentication systems where you have to purchase each token. Furthermore, the same client is used for any number of FiveBarGate sites. This means that your client never has to carry more than one mobile device, and not a host of physical token generators. You only purchase the server software which is dramatically cheaper than other two-factor authentication systems.
FiveBarGate is easy to install
FiveBarGate can be installed on mobile devices via our Client Download Center. Supported FiveBarGate client installations include Over-The-Air (OTA) installs [where a client with a WAP or similar connection can simply browse to our server and follow the easy-to-use menus], or downloaded straight from our website to a PC, allowing many other installation options.
For server installations, integration with FiveBarGate is also a simple affair. The software supports various configurations on the back-end. FiveBarGate can be installed with websites that use either one-way or two-way encryption for passwords. FiveBarGate is easy to use
Once installed, the user simply runs FiveBarGate and enters their Secret to generate the GateKey. This Gatekey is then entered into your website login screen. It is as simple as that. Once FiveBarGate has verified the GateKey on your server, you can display the Verification Code back to the user. The user can then check this with the Verification Code on their mobile device. If they are a match, your client can continue on to the secure area of the site.
FiveBarGate is anti-hacking
FiveBarGate is a two-factor authentication system. It has two main components: a free, easily downloadable client that is downloaded to a phone or other mobile device, and an easily implementable, web-farm aware, server component.
Your customer runs the free application on their mobile device and enters a secret token provided by you. This generates a one-time, time-dependent GateKey that the customer types into your website along with their User ID, instead of the normal User Id/Password combination. The user password remains entirely secret to them and is never entered online, nor stored on their device. The server component authenticates the GateKey and tells your web application if access can be granted or not.
FiveBarGate is anti-phishing
To reduce the probability of phishing, the FiveBarGate mobile client generates a verification code at the time that the GateKey is generated. If FiveBarGate on the server authenticates the login successfully, a verification code identical to the one on the mobile device is generated on the web site. The customer can do an easy visual check to ensure these two codes are the same before proceeding into the secure area of the site. If they do not, they are possibly being phished and can exist without having compromised their data.
