How does FiveBarGate work?
Traditionally websites use one-factor authentication which requires a login name and password i.e. “something you know” in security terms.
Two-factor authentication introduces an “offline” component to the login process either using a one-time PIN number sent to a mobile phone, or a number generated from a separate device. Two-factor authentication requires “something you know and something you have”.
Three-factor authentication requires “something you know, something you have and something you ARE” and would require biometric, retina or DNA scanners to Authenticate. | | |
FiveBarGate is a mobile phone based, two-factor authentication tool, whereby a seven digit long, one-time, time dependant alphanumeric GateKey is generated remotely by applying a patented algorithm to the user’s login and password. This GateKey is then is used to verify the user on a website.

Easy authentication
• User inputs password into the client application sitting on his/her mobile device • Application generates a seven-digit alphanumeric GateKey and validation code that is valid for a predetermined amount of time • The user signs into the Internet site using the GateKey generated on the mobile device (no passwords are necessary) together with the usual User ID • The FiveBarGate Server component authenticates the user and presents a validation code that was generated in conjunction with the GateKey (to validate the authenticity of the website and circumvent Phishing attacks) • The user gains access to the site
